A thunderstorm cut short the clash between Sesa FA and Sporting Clube de Goa on Thursday, as fierce weather conditions forced the game at Sirsaim ground to be abandoned in the 25th minute. Coming off a recent win over Geno FC, Sesa FA head coach Charles Dias made a solitary tweak, introducing Kirtikesh Gadekar to add steel in midfield. Sporting Clube’s coach Armando Colaco, after a tight victory over Goa Police, took a different approach with four changes to his lineup. Colaco entrusted Abhimanyu Singh in goal, integrated last game’s impact player Dhiraj Chouhan into defense, and introduced Dattaraj Gaonkar as captain in midfield alongside Selwyn Miranda on the left flank.
Sporting Clube came out strong, driving hard at Sesa’s defense in the first ten minutes with aggressive pressure in the final third. But Sesa’s backline held firm, repelling every attempt to keep the game scoreless. Seizing the moment, Sesa pushed forward in a bid for the opening goal, only to have Velito Rocha booked for a late challenge during their offensive burst.
Sesa’s midfield dominance grew as they pushed Sporting Clube back, but any hope of a decisive breakthrough was dashed when severe weather struck, prompting referee Sunil Nanodkar to call a halt to proceedings. The game was abandoned as lightning, thunder, and torrential rain rendered conditions unplayable, leaving the scoreline blank.
