Sporting Clube de Goa showcased their attacking prowess with a commanding 3-1 victory over Geno FC at the Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Saturday. Francisco Fernandes, Sushil, and Dhiraj Chouhan delivered standout moments as Sporting Clube secured another crucial win in the Goa Professional League.
The Flaming Oranje wasted no time in making their mark, breaking the deadlock in just the second minute. Francisco Fernandes latched onto a low cross from Biswa Darjee, set up by Naocha's deft touch, to fire home a clinical opener.
Geno responded with resilience, finding the equalizer midway through the first half. Krishna Gawas won a penalty after being brought down in the box by Joel Colaco, and Velito Cruz calmly converted from the spot, sending the keeper the wrong way to level the score.
The second half belonged to Sporting Clube, who returned with renewed vigor. Sushil produced a moment of magic in the 70th minute, curling a stunning free-kick into the top left corner from well outside the box, leaving Geno’s goalkeeper with no chance.
Minutes later, Sporting capitalized on another set-piece opportunity. Joyson Gauncar earned a free-kick just outside the box, leading to a scramble following a deflection. Dhiraj Chouhan reacted quickest, hammering home the loose ball to seal the victory.
