Pax of Nagoa denied by Calangute; Vasco SC pip YBT

Pax of Nagoa's hopes of claiming top spot in the Goa Professional League were dashed on Tuesday after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Calangute Association at the Nagoa ground.

The home side started brightly, taking a commanding lead in the first half. Stalen Lucas, making just his second senior appearance, converted a penalty in the 22nd minute to open the scoring for Pax of Nagoa. Buoyed by the goal, Royal Oliveira doubled their advantage three minutes later with a well-placed header.

However, Calangute, currently positioned eighth in the league, displayed remarkable resilience in the second half. They mounted constant pressure on the Pax of Nagoa defense, and their persistence paid off in the 55th minute when Jovito Fernandes pulled a goal back.

The momentum shifted decisively towards Calangute, and with eight minutes remaining, Pratesh Shirodkar snatched a dramatic equalizer, condemning Pax of Nagoa to a share of the spoils.

Elsewhere, Vasco SC secured a convincing 2-0 victory against Young Boys of Tonca at Tilak Maidan on Tuesday. Nganba Meitei emerged as the hero for Vasco SC, scoring a brace to propel his team to victory.

The first half witnessed a tightly contested battle, with both sides vying for control of the midfield. Vasco SC gradually gained the upper hand, creating opportunities and testing the Young Boys of Tonca defense. Their efforts paid off in the 41st minute when Nganba Meitei found the back of the net, giving Vasco SC a well-deserved lead going into the break.

The second half saw Vasco SC maintain their dominance. Nganba Meitei continued to pose a threat, and his persistence was rewarded in the 67th minute as he doubled Vasco SC's advantage.

Vasco SC comfortably controlled the remainder of the match, securing a crucial three points to solidify their position in the league standings.

St. Anthony's SC, SCC Cavelossim, and Albert Developers dominated their GFA First Division League matches on Tuesday. St. Anthony's edged Candolim SC 3-1, Albert Developers thrashed CDJ Ribandar 5-0, and SCC Cavelossim defeated Mandopa SC 4-2.
