Panjim Footballers secured their first point of the Goa Professional League after being held to a 1-1 draw against Guardian Angel SC at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.

Panjim keeper Preston Rego put his team up in the first half scoring from the penalty spot while Joywin Costa equalized for Guardian Angel SC in the dying minutes of the game.

Panjim Footballers are on one point while Guardian Angel SC remain unbeaten after three rounds and move to seven points.

The opening stages of the game were characterized by a cagey battle, with both teams vying for control. However, it was Panjim's goalkeeper, Preston Rego, who broke the deadlock in the first half. After a foul by Guardian Angel SC's Peter Carvalho inside the box, Rego stepped up confidently and converted the penalty, giving his team a valuable lead. Peter Carvalho was booked for his challenge.

Guardian Angel SC had their moments, with Joel Barreto missing a couple of clear-cut chances in the first half. They relied on long passes in the second half, but their efforts rarely troubled the Panjim goalkeeper.

Panjim Footballers had a golden opportunity to extend their lead in the final quarter when Nigel embarked on a majestic run down the left wing and delivered a perfect pass to Sainath Kankonkar. However, Kankonkar inexplicably shot wide with an open goal in front of him.

Despite several missed chances by Panjim, Guardian Angel SC struggled to capitalize on the situation. Panjim's Nigel and Alvito both squandered opportunities to seal the victory.

In the 85th minute, Guardian Angel SC finally made Panjim pay for their missed chances. Joywin Costa headed in a well-placed cross, leveling the score at 1-1 and breaking Panjim's hearts.

Guardian Angel’s Akram Yadwad was named the player of the match and the award was presented by former India captain Climax Lawrence.
