In a tense and tightly contested match at the Benaulim ground on Thursday, Panjim Footballers secured a valuable point against Guardian Angels Sports Club, drawing the Goa Professional League encounter 1-1.

Guardian Angel SC moved to 26 points from 22 matches while Panjim Footballers moved to nine points from 22 games.

Panjim Footballers' goalkeeper displayed exceptional reflexes early on, denying Fulganco Cardozo's dangerous free-kick that rattled the crossbar in the opening ten minutes. The momentum then shifted as Panjim broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark. Teron Fernandes weaved his magic through the Guardian Angels defense, slotting the ball home to put his team ahead.

Despite trailing, Guardian Angels refused to back down. They pressed for an equalizer throughout the first half, but clear-cut chances remained elusive. The scoreline remained 1-0 to Panjim Footballers at the break.

The Angels emerged from the halftime break with renewed determination. Their persistence paid off just six minutes into the second half when Antush Afonso showcased his dribbling prowess. Afonso danced down the left flank before cutting inside the box and unleashing a delightful curling effort that nestled into the far corner, restoring parity for Guardian Angels.
