The inaugural Bhausaheb Bandodkar Memorial Trophy will kick off on Friday with a qualifying match between Pax of Nagoa and Cortalim Villagers.

The highly anticipated event has generated excitement amongst Goan football fans, with GFA president Dr. Caitano Fernandes highlighting the opportunity it provides for local talents to compete against established national clubs.

“The stage is all set for the inaugural edition of Bhausaheb Bandodkar Memorial Trophy. This tournament will give a platform for our talented players to clash against National clubs. This will be GFA’s biggest tournament in years to come. I wish the team good luck!,” stated GFA president Dr. Caitano Fernandes.

Three teams – Goa Professional League champions Sporting Clube de Goa, runners-up Sesa FA, and Dempo Sports Club – have already secured their spots in the main tournament based on their Goa Professional League performance.

However, six other teams will battle it out in the qualifiers for the remaining three slots. Pax of Nagoa and Cortalim Villagers open the qualifying round on Friday, followed by Panjim Footballers facing Guardian Angel SC on May 4th, and FC Goa taking on Churchill Brothers on May 5th.

The main group stage kicks off on May 8, with all matches played at Duler Stadium in Mapusa.

Adding spice to the competition are the inclusions of Kerala Blasters and Mumbai City FC, two powerhouses from outside Goa. Their presence promises a thrilling battle for Goan teams aiming to make a mark on the national stage.
