Geno FC win; Calangute hold Sesa FA

Geno FC managed to win 2-1 against Vasco SC, while Calangute Association and Sesa FA played out a 1-1 draw in the GFA Goa Professional League on Saturday.

At Nagoa ground, goals from Chaitan Komarpant and Abhay Yadav helped Geno secure three points despite Vasco pulling a goal back through Lalnunzama.

Geno FC had a perfect start in the game going ahead early in the game through Caitan Komarpant who pressed his opponent and dispossessed Vasco defender, got past his marker and the keeper and coolly converted past the keeper.

There were plenty of opportunities created and missed by both teams in the first quarter.

Geno doubled the lead from a set piece when Priyanshu’s freekick was headed in by Abhay Yadav, giving no chance for Vasco keeper.

Vasco SC kept pressing to get their goal and managed to reduce the deficit when Vasco SC’s Amarjit Singh crossed in to Lalnunzama, who placed his header in the far corner making it 1-2.  Vasco SC’s Syed Hossain attempted a shot from outside the box, but it sailed over the bar.

Geno were reduced to 10 men in the dying minutes after second half substitute Jachi handled the ball to receive his second booking. Chaitan was named the player of the match.

At Benaulim, Sesa FA had taken the lead through Sankhalp Kankonkar in the first half while Joywin Carniero made it 1-1 for Calangute in the dying minutes of the game.

 

In GFA 2nd Div League, Fr. Agnelo YSC secured a 3-0 win over Our Lady of Gloria SC.

In GFA 3rd Div League, Rising Star SC beat CAC Cansaulim 3-1.

In GFA U-15 Div I, South Goa United trounced Vasco SC 17-0. Salgaocar FC and Dempo SC played out a goalless draw.
