Geno FC humble Guardian Angel; Pax of Nagoa beat Calangute Association

Geno FC clinched a resounding 4-1 victory over Guardian Angel SC in the GFA Goa Professional League in a dazzling display of skill at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.

 

Geno set the tone early with Prajay Gawde's precise tap-in, seizing an opportunity after Guardian Angel's keeper, Oswin Rodrigues, blocked a shot. Meinam Musharaf added to the lead in the 12th minute, showcasing individual brilliance on the right flank and firing an unstoppable shot.

However, Geno's second goal-scorer found himself on the wrong end, conceding a penalty for a handball. Referee awarded Guardian Angel SC a spot-kick, duly converted by Gilbert Oliveira. Geno FC led 2-1 at halftime.

In the second half, Geno FC continued to press for goals. Abelson Jachi's earlier attempts were thwarted by Oswin.

Abelson finally found the net in the 77th minute, calmly slotting in Minesh Kunkolkar's low cross. Substitute Krishna Gawas added the fourth in the 82nd minute, securing a convincing victory for Geno SC.

Aryan Chauhan bagged the player of the match award and it was presented by Uday Lingudker, GFA executive member.

Nagoa ground witnessed a gripping encounter as Pax of Nagoa SC secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Calangute Association in the Goa Professional League. Climax Fernandes and Shubert Pereira scored for Nagoa while Dangmei Gaipuilan pulled a goal back for Calangute Association.

In GFA Third Division League Mormugao zone, Patrong SC and CAC Cansaulim played out a 2-2 draw.

In GFA U-13 Division II, Raia FC humbled Navelim Villagers Union 6-1. Colmorod Ratwado SC win nine-goal thriller against Verna SC with a 5-4 win. Meanwhile Young Striker Club and Ave Maria shared the spoils in 6-6 draw. St. Sebastian UC defeated UC Orlim 7-3.

In women’s league match, FC Tuem won 7-0 against Vintage 73 SC.
