Cortalim Villagers get the better of Geno FC; Calangute Association beat Vasco

Cortalim Villagers and Calangute Association recorded wins in the Goa Professional League on Tuesday.

While Cortalim Villagers got the better of Geno FC at Nagoa ground, Vasco SC were beaten by Calangute Association 0-2.

Sirsaim ground witnessed the resurgence of Calangute Association, who overcame Vasco SC with a decisive 2-0 victory. Both goals came in the second half, courtesy of substitute Aman Govekar. The first half remained goalless, but Govekar proved lethal after his introduction, finding the net twice to secure three vital points for Calangute.

At Nagoa ground, Geno FC were denied the chance of closing the gap at the top as they were beaten by Cortalim Villagers.

Cortalim Villagers stunned the rival camp scoring early in the 15th minute through Dhanushraj when he made the most out of a cross from the left flank scoring a composed header past Geno keeper.

In the second half, Geno FC missed couple of chances of getting back into the game, however, their hopes of earning a draw were dashed when Lucas scored Cortalim’s second in the 83rd minute to seal three points for Cortalim Villagers. Cortalim Villagers’ Ronil Azavedo received the player of the match award.

 

In GFA U-13 League, Canacona SCC beat SFX SC 14-3. Cortalim Gymkhana ease past CAC Cansaulim 2-0. Vasco United downed Ace SA 4-1. Benfica YC defeated Baina SC 3-2. Betalbatim SC humbled Rising Star SCC.

 

In a riveting GFA U-15 Division I clash, Sesa Football Academy exhibited prowess, securing a convincing 2-0 victory against Cortalim Villagers. The first half saw tense moments as Sunil's near miss kept the scores level at 0-0. The pivotal breakthrough came in the second half when a skillful corner by Nikesh  found Johnson, who deftly netted the ball, initiating SFA lead. Shortly thereafter, Nikesh capitalized on an opportunity, doubling the advantage. Leo's precise pass to Sairaj Parwar was unfortunately unconverted. Sesa Football Academy showcased both finesse and strategy, clinching a well-deserved victory.

 

In GFA Second Division League, Guirdolim Club got the better of Parish Youth Nuvem 2-0. UC Telaulim downed SWC Zaino 3-0. Curtorim Gymkhana beat St Anthony SC.
