Geno FC suffered their fifth defeat of the Goa Professional League after their 0-2 loss against Cortalim Villagers at Sirsaim ground. Elsewhere at Ella, Panjim Footballers struck late to salvage a point against YBT in a 1-1 draw.

Geno FC, once league leaders, seem adrift in the second half of the season. Despite playing well against Cortalim, they paid the ultimate price for missed opportunities. Denil Rebello converted a penalty early in the second half, before Cyril Dias added a late second to secure Cortalim's three points.

Geno FC are now on 15 points from 20 games while Cortalim are on 27 points from 15 games.

The other encounter was a tale of two halves. YBT dominated the opening 45 minutes, spurning a multitude of chances through Harshad Naik, Johny Manbha, and Yadav Rahul. At the other end, Panjim's Ajay Raj and Jonas Colaco came closest for the home side.

The second half offered a shift in momentum. Deep Parmar tested the YBT keeper from afar, but it was Sudhir Laitonjam who broke the deadlock for YBT in the 55th minute, curling a stunning left-footed shot past the Panjim custodian. However, Panjim refused to surrender. With three minutes to go, Sikvano Oliviera whipped in a perfect cross for Maximo to thunder a header into the net. Maximo was also named the player of the match and the award was presented by Swarup Brahma, West Bengal football Association.
