Pax of Nagoa asserted their dominance with a 7-0 thrashing of Young Boys of Tonca SC, while Dempo SC fell short in a 2-1 loss to Geno FC in the Goa Professional League as the race for the title took another twist on Tuesday.

Pax of Nagoa delivered a statement performance at the Utorda ground, thrashing Young Boys of Tonca SC to seize the top spot in the First Division League. Ronaldo Oliveira's 17th-minute opener set the tone for a one-sided affair, before Shubert Pereira stole the show with a sensational four-goal haul (27', 31', 48', 81').

Sidney Gauncar capitalized on a goalkeeping deflection to make it 4-0 in the 51st minute, while Velroy Borges added further gloss to the scoreline with a late strike in the 88th minute.

The resounding victory sees Pax of Nagoa surge to the summit with 38 points from 21 games, though their grip remains tenuous, with Dempo SC and Cortalim hot on their heels with 37 points each.

In the other match, Dempo SC's late attempts at a comeback fell short as Geno FC edged them 2-1 at Benaulim. Abelson Jachi and Lenstan Afonso found the net for Geno FC, even as Meuton Fernandes' 84th-minute header provided a glimmer of hope for the Golden Eagles.

Dempo SC had their chances, with Mevan Dias and Asmon Viegas going close, but Geno FC's defensive resilience, coupled with their clinical finishing, proved decisive.
