Churchill Brothers suffer third straight defeat; FC Goa win

Churchill Brothers FC endured their third consecutive defeat in the Goa Professional League, succumbing to a 1-2 loss against Sesa FA at the GFA Goa Professional League held at SAG Ground, Benaulim.

Churchill Brothers now have 12 points from 10 games, while Sesa FA, with their win, moved to 16 points from nine matches, sharing the same point tally with FC Goa, who secured a victory against Calangute Association on Monday.

In a thrilling clash at SAG Benaulim, Sesa FA exhibited resilience and secured the win with goals from Chaitan Dabholkar (9’) and Joshua D’Silva (63’), while Churchill Brothers narrowed the gap with Haokip’s 58th-minute goal. Sesa FA asserted dominance early on, with Shridarnath's precision leading to Chaitan's clinical strike in the ninth minute, setting the stage for an intense battle.

However, the narrative shifted in the 58th minute when Sesa FA conceded a penalty, skillfully converted by Churchill Brothers' Lunminlen Haokip, leveling the score and injecting fresh suspense into the game. The pivotal moment unfolded in the 63rd minute when Rohan's cross from the flank found Joshua D’Silva inside the box, showcasing composure to secure Sesa FA's 2-1 lead.

Meanwhile, at Ella Ground, Reezvon Fernandes netted the lone goal, securing a crucial victory for FC Goa against Calangute Association. Reezvon's outstanding performance earned him the Player of the Match award, presented by FC Goa senior team coach Manolo Márquez.

In the GFA U-13 Division II, Navelim Villagers Union claimed a resounding 7-1 victory over Sarzora, while Raia FC dominated Colmorod Ratwado SC with a 9-0 triumph. In the GFA Second Division League, Fr. Agnelo YSC Paroda secured a 4-1 win over Carmel SC, and Pilerne SC defeated Vagator Parish Youth SC.
