Churchill Bros ease past Panjim; Dempo, Sporting share the spoils

Churchill Brothers claimed a decisive 3-1 victory over Panjim Footballers in the GFA Goa Professional League at SAG ground, Benaulim, on Saturday.

Borish Singh initiated the scoring spectacle in the 32nd minute, capitalizing on a deceptive free kick, embarking on a solo run that culminated in a powerful strike into Panjim's net.

Lalawmpuia Sailo further solidified Churchill Brothers' lead with a brace, inflicting havoc on Panjim's defense. Sailo's first goal, a curling strike, left the Panjim custodian helpless, while his second came just a minute later, propelling Churchill Brothers to a commanding 3-0 lead at halftime.

Panjim Footballers exhibited tenacity in the second half, seeking a comeback. Substitute Teron Fernandes provided a glimmer of hope, netting a precision through ball from Alvito Dias. Despite the resurgence, Churchill Brothers maintained defensive resilience, thwarting Panjim's attempts to level the score. The final whistle blew with Churchill Brothers securing the victory at 3-1, underscoring their prowess in the Goa Professional League.

At Ella ground, Dempo Sports Club and Panjim Footballers played out a drab draw.

In GFA Second Division League, St. Anthony SC Assolda defeated UC Telaulim 3-0.  Guirdolim Club eased past Deao Sports Club 2-0. PVC Parra scored a comfortable 3-0 win over Assonora SC XI. Carmel SC ran riot over Our Lady of Gloria SC with a 5-1 win.

In GFA Third Division League, BITS Pilani scored a comfortable 5-2 win over Ace Sports Academy. Bhagwati SC humbled Aivao United 7-0.

In GFA U-13 Div II League, Sarzora Sports Club edged past Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda 2-1.

In another match, St. Francis Xavier Sports Club Gonvol Xeldem got walkover after Wilred Leisure SC failed to report at the venue.
