Calangute Association edge past Guardian Angel SC 2-1

Calangute Association snatched a dramatic 2-1 victory from Guardian Angel SC in a Goa Professional League encounter at Duler stadium on Sunday. Despite dominating early, Guardian Angel fell behind to Dangmei Gaipuilan's strike off a Richard Cardoz through ball just before halftime.

However, Joel Baretto's screamer into the top right corner from way outfield on the cusp of the break reignited hope. The second half saw a relentless Guardian Angel attack after the equaliser, but Calangute's Cydon D'Souza stood tall. Jovito Fernandes, booked for a challenge, turned hero, lobbing the keeper for Calangute's winner. Guardian Angel pressed for the equaliser, but a Jovel Martins yellow was all they could find, as Calangute celebrated a dramatic 2-1 steal.

In the Second Division League,  Goan Warriors staged a stunning late fightback with three goals in the final 16 minutes to snatch victory from Assonora United (3-1). Chirag Mardolkar, Harshad Morajkar, and Kunal Virnodkar sealed the comeback.

 Fr Agnelo YSC's Nikhil Kerkar bagged a brace, while Clifton Fernandes and Vithal Shirvoikar contributed to their commanding 4-2 win over PY Nuvem, despite Frazer Miranda's two-goal blitz in the second half.

Curtorim Gymkhana unleashed an offensive onslaught, with Shelford Fernandes netting a hat-trick and Kavya Katkar scoring four times in their 9-0 demolition of SWC Zaino. Royson Colaco and Ryce Fernandes also found the net.

 

In the GFA U-15 Khelo India Women’s League, Vintage 73 SC defeated Dunes SC 1-0 and CSM de Taleigao secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Laxmi Prasad SC.
